Wednesday 1st September - Clear round Showjump training evening
'Book your slot' by tx or call Kim 07950213691 at a time convenient for you between 3.00pm till 7pm. (the earlier you tx the more guarantee for your time you choose).
Turn up before your slot time - come tell me your height you wish to jump. Warm up in the field and practice fence, then 1st round over the course, then come and have a chat and gain feedback from myself - Kim BHSAI (Reg'd), pony club accredited trainer and event rider, 2nd round is rosette round!
All this training for £5!

Call or tx NOW to get the slot you want! Kim 07950213691, pay on the day. All 2nd rounds who go clear get a rosette. You can enter as many times as you like. Hope to see you all there.

Hello Everyone!!

Well 2010 season is finally here, we hope you all had a good xmas and a great new year?
I'm in the process at the mo of sorting out the dates for the shows - trying to fit them around other shows, my local competitions, eventing, work ect it is very difficult!! But I'll get there!

Right to kick start us off, alot of you have been asking for a bit of a social get together before the shows start.
So i have organised 2 lecture/demos/talks:

Dodson and Horrell feed talk (covering the digestive tract, feeding the leisure horse to competition horse, illness ect).

Paul Varnam DWFC. A farriers talk and demo of basic anatomy of the lower limb, covering tendons, bones and blood circulation. How to recognise when a horse needs shoeing and different types of shoes. Hoof hygiene and ailments.

D & H feed talk : Friday 19th February. Doors open at 6.30pm ready to start at 7pm. Will last approx 1hr, questions after this welcome. Tea/coffee 50p or for those who need a drink after a long day the bar will be open!! Venue = Huncote Sports and social club, Enderby Road. Thurlaston. LE9 7TF. (this is opposite the show ground.) £3.00 per person for each demo or £5.00 to come to them both.
PLEASE all those interested i need definate numbers by Tuesday 9th Feb for the D & H talk.
Farriers talk date to be confirmed (End of march/ April time).

Paul Varnam DWFC. A farriers talk and demo of basic anatomy of the lower limb; this lecture will be held at Huncote Sports and Social Club, Thurlaston lane, Thurlaston, LE9 7TF (opposite the show ground). It's £3 per person or if you came on the D &H feed talk then its only £2. It will start at 7pm and will last around an hour. There will be a part 2!! In the middle of the summer or end of the show season that will be on a live horse!! This will be £2 if you came on part 1!! Please pre-book asap as limited spaces will be available for both. Covering tendons, bones and blood circulation. Parts of the hoof and their function.

What should a healthy foot looks like, conformation and way of going being affected by feet / trimming / shoeing

What should you look for in a good farrier!

Diseases of the hoof and prevention, hoof hygiene and ailments.

Understanding laminitis and any other common diseases that affect the hoof.

Feeding for a healthy hoof – supplements?

Hoof preparations – disinfectants / oils / moisturisers etc – when to use, what to look for in ingredients etc



Part 2 will cover;
How to take a shoe off which has been partly pulled off and you cant wait until the farrier gets there.

What sort of tools its handy to have at the yard and how to use them

Remedial shoeing – examples of different types of shoeing and how they help certain conditions or imperfections

How to recognise when a horse needs shoeing and different types of shoes.

Barefoot trimming?

What a farrier expects of you and your horse!! - on day of visit, young horses ect.



Sunday 11th April - Fun ride with pub visit!!
Fun ride around 7 miles long or you can do 4.5miles or 2.5miles. 1 road crossing the rest is over fields, farm tracks and off road riding. Rosette for every completion. £5 per person. Come along between 12pm and 3pm on your own or in a group. sign in when you arrive. Hope to see you all there.xx

All proceeds go to charity, Leicestershire Animal Aid.

Enter on the day, entry's taken from 11.30am at the ringside. All Classes kindly sponsored, please help support them.

Class 18 - Prettiest bitch (any age)

Class 19 - Handsomest Dog (any age)

Class 20 - Best Rescue (any age)

Class 21 - Best Veteran (over 7 years old)

Class 22 - Dog who looks most like their owner (and a special prize for the dog who looks least like their owner!)

Class 23 - Fastest recall down temptation alley (recall your dog past a row of treats and toys)

Class 24 - Musical sit (everyone walks round with their dogs until the judge shouts sit. The last dog to sit in each round is eliminated until only one remains – the winner!)

Class 25 - Egg and spoon race (dog & owner!)

Class 26 - Best sausage catcher

Rosettes 1st – 6th place and a special prize for the winner of each class.

Please clean up after your dog!
